Latest Update on Kailash Yatra 2024

Touch Kailash is no longer permitted :

In July, Kailash Tourist Spot Management has put up a billboard Stating it is prohibited to go further into the North face of Kailash. Though touch Kailash has been popularized by many irresponsible travel agencies. It is a very risky endeavor to do this three hours of hiking into the Ganggyap Glacier.

This trek requires an hour of walking on the glacier. Once when you reach the touch Kailash spot, there is a huge risk of rock dropping from the holy mountain. We have always encouraged people to bring in a proper certificate helmet for the purpose. Yet many travel agencies in Kathmandu would buy cheap plastic helmets which is of no good.

We have always discouraged people from walking towards the holy mountain and disturbing its tranquility. Also, many Masters like Sadh Guru have discouraged people from touching Kailash and inner kora from disturbing the holy place.

Inner Kora is not permitted :

Inner Kora around the Nandi Hill and Saptarishi cave has always been off-limited to International travelers. Yet there was a many incident where travelers have been able to sneak in with the help of locals. At the beginning of this year. Local Kailash management has sent a circulation reassuring the policies of closure and the consequences of breaking this policy.

Hence, we would strongly urge Yatris. This policy is only for their safety and follow it. Otherwise, your tour guide and the Local Tibetan Travel agency that is hosting you will play the consequences of it.

a Kailash is open for NRIs

Kailash is open for Non-Indian Passport holders or Hindus living abroad. They can apply for a Tibet travel permit and Chinese Visa as a usual normal tourist. If your passport has a free visa policy in China you didn’t need the visa if you are entering in China from Nepal or Major Chinese Cities like Chengdu. (most travel agencies will ask you to get the Chinese Group visa from Kathmandu).

A Kailash is Closed for Indian Citizens

Kailash Yatra has been closed for Indian Passport holders since the COVID pandemic. The closest you can get to Mount Kailash is the Kailash Darshan Yatra on the Nepal side of the Sino-Nepali Border, from here you can travel a distance via Kailash and Lake Mansarovar from distance. That is the best alternative for Indian Citizens.

We hope Kailash will soon be open for Indian citizens to have access to the Adobe Mahadev. Har Har Mahadev.
