Mt Kailash, known in Tibetan known as Khang Rinpoche and its height is 6638 meters / 21,778 ft. It is still spiritually regarded as the highest peak in the world although it is not the tallest mountain by elevation technically.
Mt Kailash is sacred not just for local Tibetan devotees but holds deep spirittual signifance for Hindu followers as it is believed to be Shrine or main home for lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. Every believers , including Buddhists , Bons, Hindus and Jains believes that sins would be washed away or cleansed if one do circumambulation or kora around Mt Kailash either by walk or by full – body prostration.
Every year, thousands of foreign wonderers and pilgrims across the world would come to actualise the sacred journey around the Mt Kailash and the kora path circles aound the entire base of the mountain and it usually takes 3 days for foreign visitors and takes one strenuous day for local pilgrims to complete the whole circuit as the whole journey is 52 kilmeters long.
