The most popular and commonly traveled route for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is via Kyirong, and all the Yatra tours on this route start from Kathmandu.
To embark on this route, you will need to obtain the Chinese Group Visa from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. For Indian citizens, the Chinese Visa should be obtained from the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi, while non-Indian passport holders or NRI’s can follow the process mentioned earlier.
The visa application process typically takes three days. While our partner agency handles your visa arrangements, you will have the opportunity to visit the renowned Pashupatinath Temple, followed by visits to Jal Narayan Temple and Guheshwari Temple.
Once your Group Visa is secured, you will proceed to travel overland to Tibet, entering through the Kyirong border port. Although there will be a one or two-day stop in Kyirong for acclimatization, this route still offers a better chance for acclimatization compared to the helicopter route via Simikot. Our favorite and highly recommended route for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is via Lhasa City.
